Mechanical risks
Protection gloves of this standard need to protect against physical and mechanical loads such as wear, cuts, puncturing, tearing or felling cuts. These loads can occur when working with metal or wood or any other tasks where hands need to be protected against mechanical injury.
Protection gloves for mechanical risks must satisfy at least one of the test criteria listed in the table.
Testing Criteria:
Abrasion Resistance: 0-4
Cut Resistance: 0-5
Tear Resistance: 0-4
Puncture Resistance: 0-4
EN-ISO cut resistance: A-F
EN impact protection: yes/no
The higher the number (shown with an X below the icon in the example), the better the test result.
Polyurethane
Thanks to the polyurethane coating – the gloves are liquid-repellent and highly durable with an excellent grip. Gloves with a polyurethane coating are used wherever high mechanical loads and sharp materials are expected.
These products are work gloves with a perfect fit, superior grip and numerous important protective details. Thanks to the use of proven and forward-thinking materials, these gloves have a much higher fit precision and more dexterity than conventional work gloves, thereby making them ideal for everyday use in the professional health & safety field.

Protection against the cold
When selecting protection gloves for work in the cold, the tasks and also the environmental conditions (humidity, ambient temperature) must be taken into account, because if the gloves become wet, they may lose their insulating properties. Likewise, the protection gloves should remain flexible in these conditions and not lead to hand fatigue, even in extreme temperatures.
Winter work gloves against the cold should offer protection against both convective cold and direct contact, i.e. with cold objects. In both cases, 4 is the highest performance level.
Checking that the gloves are waterproof is voluntary. There are two values for this: 0 and 1. If after 30 minutes no water has penetrated, the gloves are marked with the value 1.
engelbert strauss offers both waterproof and also winter work gloves for optimum protection against the cold.
Testing Criteria:
Convective Cold Resistance: 0-4
Contact Cold Resistance: 0-4
Water Permeability: 0-1
